How to: Determine who did editing in a document.
Solution:
Protect the document for revisions, and make changes to the revision characteristics on the revision page tab.
1) Protect the document for revisions:
a) Click 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'. (The Protect Document dialog box appears.)
b) Click 'Revisions' tab.
c) Type a password in the 'Password' box.
d) Click 'OK'.
e) Type the same password again when prompted.
f) Click 'OK'.
2) Make changes to the revision characteristics:
a) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The Options dialog box appears.)
b) Click 'Revisions' tab.
c) In the desired revision group, select the mark to be used to signify the new revision.
Select the mark
d) Select the mark formatting from the 'Mark' list box.
e) Make sure the 'Color' options in the 'Insert Text' and 'Delete Text' sections are 'By Author'.
NOTE: Word automatically displays each reviewer's marks in a different color; therefore, the color of the mark signifies who did that editing.
f) Click 'OK'.
